Questions I Don't Hear
Would the government give 700 Billion dollars to bail out Social Security? Nope. Let them eat cake.
Would the government give 700 Billion dollars to bail out Medicare/Medicaid? Nope - would reek of socialism.
Would the government give 700 Billion dollars to bail out our infrastructure? Nope - no lobby for that.
Would the government give 700 Billion dollars to bail out failing school buildings? Nope - kids can't vote and do not contribute to campaign funds.
Would the government give 700 Billion dollars to bail out teachers who are paid way under the poverty level? Nope. We keep them too busy to complain. Plus, we all know even if teachers did complain about low wages nothing would be done. Most people do not realize that garbage truck drivers make more than teachers, as do police and fire workers.
Would the government give 700 Billion dollars to bail out Nasa/science/research for cancer/research for alternative forms of energy/etc? Of course not.
Would the government give 700 Billion dollars to bail out Executives of failing companies? Now, that is enticing. Let's go for that one. They contribute a lot, and have lots of free vacations, jet rides, surprise boxes in Senator's private homes, etc etc. Can't let friends down.

What I can't believe is McCain says "middle class" is people who make 5 million or less a YEAR...
two months ago my husband was laid off after 4 years. because he made 8.50 a hour he gets 150.oo dollars unemployment a week..I've been working two jobs as a nurses aide and made myself sick...and still can't make enough to pay reg bills. no carpayment, no morgage, no credit cards, just rent, gas, elec water and food...Ohio is now cutting back on the poor. lots of cuts for the poor. it's like we don't matter to them. we are no-bodys..and i vote and my husband votes. but the poorest of the poor do not matter.i have never heard anyone say much about the poor except that a lot won't have heat this winter. I pray every day For God to show me a way to make enough money to survive in this world without working 10 hours taking care of a woman, then leaving that job and sleeping in a chair all night taking care of a man 12 hours 3 times a week...Ohio doesn't have any good jobs left, and it's getting worse by the day...

What I really liked in the debate last night was the candidates telling us we had to stop spending beyond our means. 12 hours later Bush has a great smirk on his face after finding some way to sneak his "money the country doesn't have to bail out the top 1% of Americans" game. Sickens me. What happened to the congress I was praising a few days ago?
Gotta go see how my congressman voted. At least I can help get one of these Turkeys out if he turned against his fellow citizens.
Let's take it back to congress
Back to the Senate
Back to the Goverment
and Politicans who spent it
Let's take anouther vote
cause i can't afford them dues
I got the looking for work
hit by a Budget cut blues.
Hard to believe that was written in 1983...it sure hits home today.
seems the rich stick together like flies on a blueberry pie...the people who get to vote are the "middle class" the ones who make around 5 million or less a year...we don't get a vote. some say we have a voice in it. but i don't believe it anymore...

Thanks Connie. Makes me want to pull out the guitar & see if I can still sing that one. Masterful words - I appreciate the memories!
